Seth Dunlap Director of Broadcasting
Seth Dunlap joins Pacific Northwest Broadcasting as the Broadcast Director and play by play voice of the WebTV Games of the Week.
Dunlap has long been associated with ‘B’ sports since his time at Wilbur-Creston High School, where he graduated in 2002. Dunlap was part of the most successful three years in Wildcat basketball and baseball history; helping to lead his basketball teams to 4th, 3rd, and 3rd place finishes at State B his sophomore through senior years, and helping his baseball team to back to back state berths for the first time in school history.
The 6’6” Dunlap still holds the Creston basketball all time scoring record, as well as the District 7B single game rebound record; a 2002 game against Republic where he grabbed 28 boards in helping propel the Wildcats on to State.
Dunlap is a rare breed, in that he knew since he was young he wanted to get into the radio and television sportscasting business. Nothing changed his mind growing up, and as such decided to attend one of the top communication schools in the country – the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University.
During his freshmen year he worked as an intern under Grow Sportz at the State B Basketball Tournament. This single week of experience opened up the doors to everything that has followed in his career.
While at the tournament he met Evan Ellis, voice of Idaho Vandal Basketball and news director at KQQQ radio in Pullman. Ellis, impressed by Dunlap’s performance, offered him a job nearly on the spot as Play by Play voice for Pullman High School Greyhound Basketball for the following season. He accepted and began his three year tenure as voice of the ‘Hounds alongside color commentator Jerry Harms. Dunlap also broadcast Pullman High School football for two years during his time a WSU.
Dunlap continued his annual work with Grow Sportz during the State B tournament, and in 2006 was handed the reigns to become the Head Producer of State B Radio while a senior at WSU. He used this opportunity to transform State B radio into a full internet-radio broadcast network, the first of its kind in the Northwest. He worked with BSports.org Publisher Chad Dinkins during this time, and helped lead to the takeover of State B for Dinkins organization.
After his WSU commencement in 2006, Dunlap accepted a position as the head play by play voice for Idaho Vandal Women’s basketball, while at the same time taking a job as the Assistant News Director at KQQQ Radio in Pullman.
It was after one year of these commitments that Dunlap decided to move in a new direction and take a position with Inland Northwest Broadcasting in Lewiston, ID. During his short stint there he was contacted by newly formed Pacific Northwest Broadcasting and offered a position as their Broadcast Director and Production Manager. He accepted, and has helped transform P-N-W-B and their partner, BSports.org, into a year-round sports broadcasting operation.
Some of Dunlap’s broadcast credits include the 2004-2008 State B (now 2B) Championship games, Pullman football’s championship winning game in 2005, PHS girls championship game in 2004, and frequent appearances on the KJRB afternoon sports show ‘Toby and Bob’ and Border 104’s morning show, ‘Jeff and Jeremy in the Morning’.
Dunlap thanks Nedra Bayne and Paul Sorenson of Grow Sportz for giving him his initial opportunities to follow his career dream.
He also recalls, “I’ll never forget the night famed Voice of the Cougs, Bob Robertson, invited me up to his room for a glass of wine after a long day at State B. That quick glass turned into a six hour conversation where I learned more about the business than perhaps I learned during all my time at WSU.”
You can see Dunlap each week during ‘Washington Preps Insiders LIVE’ on BSports Channel 1 (Wednesdays 7:00 p.m.) and with Jerry Harms during the WebTV Games of the Week.
